In August 2025, STL Immanuel Church will host a summer retreat open to all members, inviting everyone to spend a grace-filled time together in the Word and joyful worship.

According to Pastor Sarah, head of the church’s Events Department, planning for the venue and schedule is currently in full swing. It is expected that approximately 260 participants will join the retreat, including 140 adults and 120 children.

“We hope this summer retreat can provide our members with a deeply sacred spiritual experience, along with holistic renewal and rest for body, mind, and spirit—helping everyone enter the second half of the year’s ministry with greater strength,” Pastor Sarah shared. “That’s why we are doing our utmost to arrange the most suitable schedule for everyone.”

The specific dates, location, schedule, and registration details for the retreat will be announced soon. All brothers and sisters are encouraged to stay tuned to church updates and lift up prayers for the ongoing preparations.

May God personally guide every aspect of this retreat so that all who attend may receive spiritual nourishment, genuine fellowship, and soul-deep rest during this summer season. Let us prepare our hearts together and welcome the renewal and blessings that the Lord will pour out.

We live in an era of tragedy and despair that churches are closing down, and Christians are wandering around. In this era, the Lord has established many churches across the globe under our denomination and set up His numerous ministers for them.

Not even missing one minister, one church, one city, the Lord who gave His Word and Life commands them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that the Lord has commanded (Matthew 28:19-20). The Lord is with us in this very work of mission to the end of the age.

Particularly, as churches meditate on the precious blood of Jesus Christ going toward Easter, His love compels us to step out of our feet to fill the drastic needs of many lost souls without the truth of the Lord. Because the Lord emptied His life, the saints gained eternal life and are now obligated to give their lives to others. This is the reason for their precious calling.

Love begets life, and life begets life. The love of the Lord urges us to fully focus our eyes on saving countless lost souls since they are His. Although the Son of God can enjoy all the authority in heaven, he came down to the lowest place served sinful human beings, and gave his life. We, as those who are indebted to this immeasurable love, are to willingly give our all for the Lord’s sheep that are still not in His pen.

With repentant hearts not prioritizing ourselves and our things, let us first put the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. When we preach the Gospel daily, the amazing miracle of the full net will happen toward Easter.

Embracing the Cross in Lent: A Journey of Reflection and Renewal

February 14 marks the beginning of Lent in 2024, and World Olivet Assembly members will embark on a collective 40 day scriptural meditation, in the form of personal scriptural reading, cross centered sermons, Bible studies and retreats to renew the light of the cross in each person’s heart once again.

More significant than the date and customs associated with Lent, Olivet members use this period to realign themselves with the core tenet of their Christian faith: the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross.

During Lent, believers are called to reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the significance of the cross in their lives. It is a time of introspection, repentance, and spiritual renewal as they prepare their hearts for the celebration of Easter.

As we journey through the 40 days of Lent, we are reminded of Christ’s own 40 days in the wilderness, where he faced temptation and emerged victorious through the power of the Word of God. Similarly, Lent is a time for individuals to confront their own struggles and temptations through God’s Word, seeking strength and guidance to overcome them.

Through seeking to know the meaning of the cross more deeply, believers draw closer to God and deepen their relationship with Him. They are challenged to examine their lives, identify areas where they have strayed from the path Jesus has called all believers to follow (Matthew 16:24), and make a conscious effort to realign themselves with His purposes.

As we walk this Lenten journey together, believers are encouraged to open their hearts to God’s grace and allow His Spirit to work in them, shaping them into the image of Christ. May this season be a time of renewal and restoration as they draw near to the cross and experience afresh the power of Christ’s resurrection in their lives.

Let us embrace this season of Lent with humility and gratitude, knowing that it is through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross that we are redeemed and made new. May we emerge from this season stronger in faith, more steadfast in hope, and overflowing with love for God and others.
